ARTS DEPARTMENT
The Arts Faculty has commenced Term 3 with a strong focus on innovation and student engagement across all year levels. Students have been participating in a range of tasks and activities designed to prepare them for the completion of their making and responding assessment tasks.
Arts students from Years 7–11 are currently undertaking these assessment pieces, while Year 12 General Arts students are finalising work in preparation for their upcoming mock examinations. In addition, Year 12 Visual Arts in Practice students are working towards the submission of their resolved artworks and written components, which are due in the coming weeks.
Last week, our Year 11 Visual Art and Visual Arts in Practice students, together with Year 12 Visual Art students, attended an excursion to the Rockhampton Museum of Art. Students engaged in two guided exhibition tours before participating in a self-directed exploration. This valuable experience provided them with inspiration and stimulus to inform the development of their own resolved artworks.
In the area of Music, a group of Instrumental Music students participated in a workshop at Frenchville State School under the direction of Mr Samuels. The workshop offered students an enriching opportunity to refine their skills in a collaborative and supportive environment.
We are also pleased to announce that preparations are well underway for our annual Arts Showcase, to be held on Wednesday, 3 September 2025. The evening will commence at 4:30pm with the opening of the Art Exhibition in the Trade Training Centre Café and designated sections of the Performing Arts Centre. This will be followed by a program of performances and media presentations beginning at 5:30pm. We warmly invite families, friends, and members of the wider school community to attend this celebration of artistic talent and achievement.
