JUNIOR SCHOOL
Junior School Push Up Promotion
The National Push-Up Challenge is Australia's largest mental health and fitness event. This year the target was 3 249 push-ups —one for every Australian life lost to suicide last year. Money raised at this event went towards supporting Headspace. Headspace is an organisation helping a lot of our young people take control of their mental health.
To inspire participation in the National Push-Up Challenge, our Junior School had a bit of fun with a friendly Teachers vs Students showdown! The challenge? Do as many push-ups as you can in 30 seconds.
Everyone who participated gave it their all, with every competitor smashing out more than 20 push-ups—a fantastic effort! But the standout performance came from Mr Harvey, who managed an impressive 43 push-ups, just edging out Mr Moore to take the win!
Our ‘warm-up event’ worked. At The Push Up Challenge event a few days later, our Junior School Hawks outperformed both the Middle and Senior Sub Schools, showing fantastic determination and team spirit. Our Year 7s dominated overall with the highest number of push-ups completed across all year levels.
In total, over 11 000 push-ups were completed across the school—an incredible effort from students and staff alike. Special thanks to our student leadership team for their outstanding work in organising and promoting the event. Their enthusiasm and coordination helped make the challenge a memorable and motivating experience for all. Well done to everyone who participated!
A group of Junior School Students participated in the 2025 Math Team Challenge at Glenmore State High School earlier in the term. During this event, students were given the opportunity to advance their interest in creative problem solving and develop team work skills, within an intellectual and scholarly atmosphere. Students got the chance to work independently and as a team. All students enjoyed the experience and were excellent representatives for our school. Go HAWKS!
Year 7 Open Classrooms
Thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us for our recent Year 7 Open Classroom event. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to step inside our learning spaces and see firsthand the work students have been doing.
Our Year 7 students were proud to share their classrooms and learning with you, and your presence helped make the event a memorable one. The positive energy and support from our school community were truly appreciated. We look forward to welcoming you again at future events!
Upcoming events in Term 3:
- Rotary Trivia Challenge: held at Rockhampton State High School (students will be asked questions relating to Australiana, General Knowledge and World Affairs)
- Career Quest: an interactive event in September where Junior School Students can explore various career options, meet professionals, and learn about different industries. It's a great opportunity to discover future career paths, ask questions, and be inspired!
Looking forward to sharing more Junior School news with you.
