PE DEPARTMENT
This term has been a busy one for HPE with the running of the 65th swimming carnival (congratulations Berserker winning by the narrowest margins over Archer) and cross country coming up Friday 4th April at Kemp Beach. Shout out to DJ Star (Year 10 student Jayda Kolbe) for her awesome DJ music throughout the day.
Reminder consent forms for cross country are due by 28th March. Will Archer get their revenge? Or will Fitzroy or Keppel come out swinging (I should say running).
In year 7 HPE, they have finished their swimming lessons as part of their course in term 1. Was great to see a high level of participation, with swimming and aquatic skills being such a necessity in the environment we have in the Central Queensland region.
All the junior classes have their assessment in week 8 and 9, I encourage all parents/guardians to speak to their child about their progress with their class and we welcome you to contact the teachers should you have any queries.
Next term year 12 Recreation classes have their excursion over to Great Keppel Island on May 8, consent forms are due back no later the May 1. See your teacher for a consent form ASAP.
Also next term we will be welcoming CQ AFL development officer Mr Scott Smithwick to the school to teach our year 9 students some basic fundamentals of AFL. AFL has rich history at North Rockhampton State High and we thank CQ AFL for their community partnership with the school. Who knows, we may find another Zac Smith!!!! Please google this former student if you are unsure who he is, heard he is now selling some awesome coffee beans (Tallboy Coffee).
Please remember parents/guardians if your child is not able to participate in any of the practical classes, that a note is required from home to inform the teacher. We thank you in advance for co-operation around this.
Active kids are smart kids!!
